Talking LinkedIn job scams with ABC News

Trevor Churchley ·

ABC News article, Jobseekers exploited by recruitment scammers on LinkedIn, with a panel quoting Trevor Churchley and his photo, and the quote: This is a scam designed to exploit jobseekers.

It was a nice surprise to receive some warm messages this morning after I appeared on ABC News, both radio and online! And it was for a very worthy cause.

It was Andy Warhol in the late 60s who said "In the future, everyone would be world famous for 15 minutes." Well, I just claimed a few more of those minutes this morning to talk to the ABC about the rising trend of scammers on LinkedIn.

And since both myself and Tony Young were interviewed a few months back, it seems that the scammer activity has been increasing.

It's something that I've been calling out on this platform for some time and I'm not suggesting that it is LinkedIn's fault. Unfortunately, social platforms have a nasty habit of attracting scammers and on this occasion, they're targeting the vulnerable of our industry, the job seekers.

The article is a good read and highlights some of the tell tale signs of a scammer so please be careful when you're approached by someone or something that appears too good to be true, because you know what they say about them...
