Recruiters
Most job seekers approach recruiters the wrong way
Trevor Churchley ·
In my experience, most job seekers approach recruiters the wrong way and it's extending their unemployment. The frustrating part is that most of them have no idea they're doing it.
When vacancies are plentiful, people complain that recruiters never stop calling. When the market flips, the same people complain that recruiters never call them back. Same recruiters, very different complaints.
Many people see recruiters as a necessary evil, especially after being ghosted. I get the frustration, but recruitment is a tough job. When the market is full of job seekers, it's up to us to become easy to place, because easy-to-place job seekers get hired faster.
Plenty of people also believe one application and one call to the recruiter should be enough to be remembered. Sadly, it's not. Recruiters are juggling a lot of roles and candidates, and one voicemail rarely sticks.
Whether we like it or not, recruiters are the gatekeepers of the recruitment industry. If you don't know your audience, job seeking gets tough. Understanding how they work is how you crack the recruiter code and make it work for you.
That's what tomorrow's session is all about. Boot Camp #4 of The Hustle Gameā¢, Crack the Recruiter Code, is a masterclass in how recruiters work, what they look for and how to build relationships with them that actually lead somewhere.
Wednesday 28 October, from 10am. Registration link is in the comments below.
