They’ve become the default for many employers—efficient, scalable, and convenient. But with this shift comes new challenges.
Yesterday, I heard a story that perfectly highlights this.
Grant Moore, a friend of Talentology AU, was conducting a video interview with a candidate when he noticed something unusual.
In the reflection of the candidate's glasses, Grant spotted a live AI interview assistant in action. The tool was transcribing the conversation in real time and suggesting answers to questions.
It made me wonder—is this resourcefulness, cheating, or simply executing God Mode?
Generative AI (GenAI) has been a game-changer for how we work, solve problems, and free ourselves from tedious tasks. I’ve seen it transform my business with amazing results.
But in recruitment, the waters get murkier.
AI is now being used on both sides—by recruiters to screen faster with a loss of accuracy, and by candidates to “game the system.”
In a market which demands results quickly by both recruiters and candidates, the temptation to use every tool available is understandable.
But where does that leave authenticity?
Here’s the big question:
Are AI-powered answers a demonstration of adaptability, or do they cross the line?
Are we losing the genuine, human touch in interviews?
A practical solution?
Employers and recruiters can incorporate at least one face-to-face interview into their process. This ensures a well-rounded evaluation of the candidate—not just their tech-savviness, but their ability to connect and perform in person.
Maybe AI is the future of interviews, or maybe it’s a tool that needs careful boundaries. Either way, balancing tech with human interaction will be key.
